The origins of today’s Volvo Group go back to a company that was founded back in 1832. Even in the early days of the original company, machine parts and various large machines were manufactured in Sweden, and the manufacture of construction machinery is also entirely in Volvo’s tradition. The first steam-powered construction machine was produced in 1906 and the first tractor with a combustion engine in 1913. Only since 1927 has the company been called Volvo. In 1985 a cooperation between Volvo and the US company Clark Equipment Company began. The construction machinery brands Volvo, Euclid and Michigan were united under this umbrella and the new VME brand. Over time, Volvo also acquired well-known brands and manufacturers of construction machinery such as Zettelmeyer, Kockum Landswerk and Shandong Lingong.
