Notes on installation and commissioning
When ordering the desired final drive, you will receive assembly instructions describing proper installation and commissioning.

Before starting to install the final drive, make sure that the immediate surroundings are as clean as possible. Make sure that no dirt enters the hydraulic circuit during assembly.
In addition, no impurities (metal particles etc.) must be present in the hydraulic circuit. In this context, we recommend changing the hydraulic oil and all filters in the hydraulic circuit before installing the new final drive.
On delivery of the final drive, the planetary gear is already filled with the precise quantity of the intended gear oil. General information on draining the gear oil, checking the filling level and filling the travel drive can be found on the maintenance and service page. The exact description of these processes can be found in the assembly instructions.
When assembling the final drive, ensure that the hydraulic lines are connected correctly! Deviations with regard to the positions and the thread of the connections on the final drive, on which the hydraulic lines are to be mounted, may occur in comparison to the old travel drive.
A leakage line must be connected to a large number of the final drives that we offer, and special attention must be payed to this.
The leakage hose (pressureless hose) discharges air bubbles, which can enter the hydraulic circuit (e.g. by completely loosening and subsequently fastening a hydraulic hose to the final drive).
Attention! While the construction machine is in motion, the oil is transported in the hydraulic circuit. If air bubbles are present in the circuit, the cavitation effect can destroy mechanical components that are in direct contact with the hydraulic oil. Since air is known to rise upwards, the connection for the leakage hose is usually at the uppermost position, starting from the installation position of the final drive.
On 1-speed construction machines, 3 hydraulic hoses are usually mounted on the final drive. However, there are also construction machines where only 2 hydraulic hoses are connected to the traction motor.
The direction of movement of the construction machine depends on the flow direction of the hydraulic oil in the circuit. The hydraulic oil is controlled and thus transported by one or more hydraulic pumps.
As already described, the leakage hose performs the function of venting and is usually connected to the tank at the other end without pressure.
On 2-speed construction machines, there is normally an additional hydraulic hose which is to be fitted to the intended connection of the final drive. Construction machines with 2 gears were developed to be able to cover distances faster. There are also 2-speed construction machines with 5 hydraulic hoses connected to the traction motor. The connection for the fifth hydraulic hose takes over the task of venting the clamping cylinder in the final drives offered by us.
After the final drive has been correctly mounted, commissioning follows.
This process step is intended to ensure that the hydraulic oil is completely distributed in the hydraulic circuit and that all air bubbles escape.
Commissioning is very important and at the same time a basic prerequisite for the full functionality of the final drive.
Detailed information on installation and commissioning of your final drive can be found in the installation instructions that we provide.
